The Folder Scanner is a command-line tool to discover the number of emails in folder structure and their size on disk.


You can either run it in a Command window or just double-click the EXE and then provide a path, by either typing, pasting or drag & drop.


By default, it will search for MSG and EML files but you can get it to search for other file extensions too.



Double-click method


In this example the user has double-clicked the EXE and then provided T:\ as the path and hit RETURN.




Once it has completed its scan, it will present a summary:



It also generates a CSV detailing the folders found, which it opens automatically at the end of the scan:

Running via a command window


You can run the tool in a Command window and can either provide just the path to a folder or can include the file extensions to search for. In the following example it is searching the same folders as in the example above:
